ALWAYS use non-DEHP extension Lines. DEHP
[DI(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate] is a plasticizer that is
typically added to increase the flexibility of PVC line. DEHP can
leach out of the PVC line into your solution and cause toxic effects in
animals. The amount depends on the temperature, lipid content of the
liquid and duration of contact with the extension line.
There are hundreds of polyurethane elastomer formulations used to
construct catheters and tubing. When choosing a catheter or comparing
their performance, know what formulations you are comparing. The
performance of the highest quality formulations have been stringently
tested and perform at a much higher level than you may realize.
