Regardless of species, continuous infusions lasting greater than two weeks require surgical procedures to insert and anchor indewelling catheters. Frequent intermittent infusions of long duration or with test formulations that require central venous or arterial delivery also require cut-down procedures for catheter or port implantation.
It is difficult, if not impossible, to maintain the skilled surgical staff necessary to perform these procedures without regular training or hands-on practice. SAI's experienced surgeons understand this and offer surgical consulting and practical training to ensure your animals are successfully instrumented and maintained for the duration of the infusion.
General surgical overview and consultation are standard services provided with all of our infusion and access products. In the event that a comprehensive review and indepth, hands-on session is required, we will be happy to make arrangements to visit your facility.
