As you know, catheters for dosing or sampling in rodents vary depending
on the access site and size of the animal. No single catheter will work
for every situation. SAI has taken out the guesswork and developed
catheters for specific sites and animal sizes. Although we offer many
standard catheters for specific applications most of our catheters can
be customized by diameter, length, securement device and bead
placement. Prototype development is readily available to ensure the
catheter is exactly the way you want it before you start your
surgeries. (SAI will customize any catheter to suit your needs). |

TAPERED CATHETERS 
We employ the most sophisticated medical extrusion technology to produce our tapered catheters for research. They are tapered to give you the best of both worlds without potentially troublesome step-up joints and adhesives. Our tapered catheters are thick walled and heavy-duty where they exit the animal and soft and compliant in the vessel. The kink resistant, durable, exteriorized portion provides strength and reliability where its needed. The small, intravenous portion allows for easier insertion and reduced vascular irritation. Catheter tipping available.
Tip1: Tapered catheters make vessel cannulation easier with a smaller outer diameter at the vessel site and a rugged connection site..
Tip2: Use Cath-Loc kit to improve quality and speed when multiple sampling or flushing.
SAI Stainless Steel Catheter Connectors
Stainless Steel connectors are designed to connect two pieces of catheter material together. They provide a secure friction fit for catheter materials such as polyurethane, silicone, polyethylene, Tygon or nylon catheters. Be certain to make sure when ordering that the outer diameter of the connector is at least 0.002" smaller than the inner diameter if the tubing. Softer materials such as silicone will require about a 0.004" difference. Sterilized connectors are individually packaged.
SAI PEEK Connectors
For MRI or other applications where metal can not be used, PEEK connectors provide an alternative to the stainless steel connectors. PEEK is formulated from polyetheretherketone resins and is rigid enough to be used as a connector and also has great chemical resistance. These connectors have some flexibility but do not have the ability to bend like other plastics. For longer lengths please call. Sterilized connectors are individually packaged. |
